Charlton (Chuck) Templeton, Principal
Chuck Templeton is in his fifth season with the Georgia Philharmonic as Principal Tubist.
A Nebraska native, he began his musical career with the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra before
attending the University of Nebraska on the Westbrook Memorial Scholarship for Music
Performance. His performance training included the wind ensemble, university orchestra
and brass quintet. He was a student of Craig Fuller for six years, himself a student of
the renowned Harvey Phillips. During college, Chuck also was accepted to the 43rd Army
National Guard Ceremonial Band based in Lincoln, Nebraska, and received military and
musical training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
In Atlanta, Mr. Templeton has studied with Don Strand and performed with the Atlanta
Community Symphony, Atlanta Concert Band, and the Atlanta Wind Symphony. Prior to coming
to Atlanta, he performed with the Jacksonville Community Symphony.
Chuck was elected to the Board of the Georgia Philharmonic in 2003 as Development Chair.
When not working on orchestra business or counting rests in the back row, he is an avid
BMW motorcycle enthusiast, softball player, and he can never seem to find enough books
on U.S. history and politics.
