Jim Jackson, Principal
Jim Jackson is a native of Atlanta. His music background includes 9 years with the Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra on Bassoon and Contra Bassoon, Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education
from Georgia State University, and 30 years as a Music Educator in the Atlanta area. He
retired in from the Georgia Air National Guard in May of 2007 after 38 years in the Air
National Guard Band of the South. Through that group he has performed in Norway, the Azores,
Germany, Romania, England, the Dominican Republic, and throughout the USA. He lives in Acworth
with his wife, Gail. They have three grown sons, Mark, Alan, and Benjamin, and a dog, Mstislav
(named after Rostropovich).
John Lenahan
John Lenahan has played bassoon with the orchestra for the last ten years. He earned a
BFA in music from the State University of New York at Buffalo. When not making music, John
works as an instructional technology designer in the financial services industry.
