Membership & Audition Information
The Georgia Philharmonic is now accepting applications on all instruments. There are openings for string and percussion players to join the orchestra as full-time members, and sub opportunities available for wind and brass. To request an audition, please complete our online application below.
The Georgia Philharmonic (GP) is a community orchestra with a higher-than-usual level of musicianship. GP is conducted by John Morrison (trumpet in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Ballet), who also runs the Georgia Academy of Music. John is demanding of high quality musicianship while simultaneously understanding of the musical needs of its members. Rehearsals are held in the Roswell area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday nights. Musicians are expected to be at all rehearsals (except with excused absences) and be on time.
Through the Philharmonic's Young Artists Development Program, there are a limited number of string seats for high-level high school musicians. Students under the age of 18 must have a recommendation from their teacher, perform an audition, and be able to make all rehearsals. The program provides talented high school students an opportunity to mentor with a high caliber adult orchestra.
